Women’s Lacrosse Nabs IWLCA/Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad Accolades; Four Earn Academic Honor Roll Distinction
The Goucher College women’s lacrosse team was recognized for their work in the classroom throughout the 2017-18 academic year on Monday, as the Gophers were named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/ Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for NCAA Division III.

Also, four student-athletes from the Goucher women's lacrosse team earned IWLCA/Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll honors: seniors Rachel Kieffer (Granada Hills, Calif.) and Molly Brenton (Lancaster, Pa.), and juniors Maddie Hernandez (Pickerington, Ohio) and Jordan Tice (Batavia, Ill.).
To qualify for the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, a team must have posted a 3.0 or higher GPA for the academic year. In 2017-18, the Gopher women's lacrosse team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.27. In all, 339 programs from across NCAA Divisions I, II, III and NAIA earned this years honor.
Meanwhile, to be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
All four of Goucher's recipients on the Academic Honor Roll posted impressive GPAs. Kieffer and Brenton - who both graduated from Goucher in May - ended their academic careers each posting cumulative GPAs of 3.54. Kieffer earned a degree in Environmental Science /Chemistry and Biology, while Brenton was a Communications/French major at Goucher.
Hernandez and Tice, meanwhile, have cumulative GPA's of 3.52 and 3.75, respectively. Hernandez Psychology/Sociology/Women's Gender & Sexuality Studies major, while Tice majors in History/International Relations.
In all, 639 student-athletes from 189 different Division III institutions were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
