Goucher Athletics Announces Final Fan Vote Event With Video Highlight Of The Year Winner
BALTIMORE, Md. - Goucher College women's lacrosse senior Shannon Stull's goal against Virginia Wesleyan has been tabbed as the Video Highlight of the Year after winning Goucher Athletics popular vote through the website, Facebook and Twitter.
Stull's play where she took a pass from Gopher goalkeeper Abbie McHerron at midfield and did the rest to find the back of the netting in the season-opening win against Virginia Wesleyan on February 16 earned 47.5 percent of the vote. Stull wins this fan vote honor after placing third in the Senior Performance of the Year vote.
Lacrosse plays finished in the Top-4 with men's lacrosse Julian Schemm's play finishing second with 17.4 percent of the vote while women's lacrosse Camryn Agostino placed third and men's lacrosse Jared Heath ended the competition fourth. It was Agostino's second time in the fan vote competition finishing third after she placed in the same spot for Junior Performance of the Year.
Biana Brown (women's volleyball), Yaya Diabiagate (men's soccer), Matt Woodson (men's lacrosse), Julia Gazzola (women's lacrosse), Kendall Belmont (women's soccer), Dwayne Morton (men's basketball), Alayna McFadden (women's basketball), Ari Hooper (field hockey), Cam Isaacs (men's basketball), Danielle Johnson (field hockey), Finley Lindsey (women's soccer), Josh Carter (men's basketball), Zach Brumbalow (men's soccer), Meghan Oakes (field hockey), Brandon Cohen (men's soccer), Megan Kelleher (women's soccer), Nicole Blount (women's volleyball), Emily Sorrells (women's volleyball), Kyani Quarles (women's basketball) and Anise Williams (women's basketball) rounded out the field for the video highlight of the year.
That concludes the announcements the fan vote competitions. Thank you to the 4,793 overall votes, 3,088 website votes and 1,705 social media votes on Facebook and Twitter. Men's basketball and equestrian both won two categories while men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse both took home one award each through the fan vote.
Men's Basketball recorded the most votes combined with 930 votes thanks to 75.8 percent of its votes coming from website voting. Equestrian was second with 651 total votes thanks to 82.2 percent of its votes coming from website voting while men's lacrosse finished third with 576 total votes thanks to 58.1 percent of its votes coming from website voting. Women's lacrosse placed fourth with 541 total votes, but was the only team that had a stronger social media presence than website with 56.1 percent of its vote coming via Facebook and Twitter. Women's volleyball (487 votes), men's soccer (251 votes), women's tennis (224 votes) and women's soccer (209 votes) all posted over 200 votes throughout the competition.
