Sydney Lewis Named Landmark Defensive Athlete of the Week

LANDMARK RELEASE

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College women's lacrosse junior goalkeeper Sydney Lewis was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week Monday afternoon after her role in the Gophers first win of the season against Ferrum College on Saturday.

Lewis, a graduate of the Carver Center for Arts and Technology, stopped eight shots in the Gophers' 12-5 win over the previously-unbeaten Panthers.  Lewis and the Gophers allowed just one goal in the second half after halftime, outscoring Ferrum 7-1 in the final 30 minutes.

Lewis has started all three games in goal for Goucher this season, making 28 saves.

Goucher returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when it hosts Wilson College in a 4 pm contest at Beldon Field.
