BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Host Moravian University scored the game's first five goals and never looked back as it eased past Goucher College for a 23-4 Landmark Conference women's lacrosse victory Wednesday afternoon at John Makuvek Field.
Moravian (6-4, 3-0 Landmark) got three straight goals from Jackie Salvatore to start the game and open up a 3-0 lead 7:25 in. The Greyhounds led 4-0 after one quarter and 5-0 1:14 into the second before Emily Burk scored for the Gophers (2-8, 0-3) at the 12:34 mark, with Bailey Schneeman assisting on the man-up goal.
The Greyhounds converted a free position 35 seconds later, before Schneeman assisted on an Amelia Lazzini tally at the 11:12 mark. The hosts scored six straight goals to lead 12-2 at the break.
Katherine Luetgens scored 1:10 into the second half for Goucher, with Tatiana Emeruwa assisting. Goucher's other goal came from Camden West with 7:51 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Moravian held a 45-7 lead in shots, with Goucher goalie Sydney Lewis making 13 saves, her fifth double-digit save total of the season.
Molly Smith recorded four draw controls for the Gophers, while Burk had three. Lucy Covington picked up five ground balls, while six different players recorded a caused turnover for Goucher.
Goucher returns home on Saturday, April 6, hosting Wilkes University in a 1 pm Landmark contest at Beldon Field.
