TOWSON, Md. – In a hard fought 94 minutes of soccer, the Moravian Greyhounds got the edge on the Goucher Gophers with a header goal at 94:32 on Beldon Field on Wednesday, October 26th. The 1-0 loss drops the Gophers overall record to 6-9-1 and their Landmark Conference record to 1-5. Moravian improved to 8-6-1.
· Goucher had the momentum for the majority of the game, putting the Greyhounds on their heels on numerous occasions in both the first and second half. The shots remained even throughout the game with Goucher totaling 9, and Moravian 10.
· The Gophers had 6 corner kicks in the game compared to 2 for the Greyhounds.
· The Gophers had trouble connecting in front of goal, slipping a few good balls just wide of the goal. Senior forward Sam Turner (Vineland, N.J.)found herself in front of goal twice, but the Moravian goal keeper kept the Hounds in the game.
· The Hounds scored to break the scoreless tie in the first overtime off of a corner kick, when Shae Duka headed the ball into the near post to end the game.
Goucher will play their final regular-season match on Saturday against Drew University at 1:00 PM on Beldon Field. In a ceremony prior to the game the Gophers will be honoring their seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program.
