ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Goucher College women's soccer team lost on the road at Elizabethtown on Saturday, falling 4-0 in a Landmark Conference road match.
With the loss, the Gophers dropped to 4-7-3 and 0-4-2 in the Landmark Conference, while Elizabethtown improved to 5-7-2 and 3-3 in the Landmark with the win.
In the match, Goucher was able to keep E-Town off the scoreboard for most of the first half, as sophomore goalie Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md.) made six saves in the opening frame to keep Goucher in it.
But, the Blue Jays scored a late goal in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, E-Town scored three more times and kept Goucher off the board for the final 45 minutes to record the shutout win.
Overall, E-Town held a sizeable 27-9 edge on shots and a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks. In net, Charikofsky finished the game with nine saves.
The Goucher College women's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Notre Dame (Md.) in their final non-conference game of the 2018 season. Action gets underway at Beldon Field at 7 p.m.
