BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College fell to Eastern College in non-conference women's soccer action on Saturday.
Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty), the current Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made four saves in the loss.
Juaniece Blackmon (Norfolk, Va./Portsmouth)and Savannah Scott (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) both made their collegiate debut in the match.
The Gophers best chance to get on the scoreboard was in the first half. Alyssa Hodnik (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kiski Area) had a corner kick and Gracie LeFevre (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) had her shot blocked before Rylee McDonnell (Estell Manor, N.J./Ocean City) hit a shot wide in the 28th minute. Hodnik then had a shot turned away a minute later and had two more corner kicks, but could not find the twine.
The Eagles scored once in the first half and three times in the second half to hand Goucher its first loss of the season.
The Gophers conclude a two-game homestand on Wednesday against Shenandoah. Match time is 7 p.m.
