WASHINGTON, D.C. – Goucher College fell to Catholic University of America 1-0 in Landmark Conference women's soccer action on Wednesday.
Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) made five saves for the Gophers while Megan Kelleher (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional) had a team-high three shots.
Claudia Roller (Tucson, Ariz./Sahuaro) had her shot saved in the 16th minute while Gracie LeFevre (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg) had her shot blocked by the Cardinals defense in the 34th minute in the first half.
Kendall Belmont (Portland, Ore./David Douglas), who scored in Goucher's 2-0 win against Juniata on Saturday, had her shot stopped in the 50th minute and Kelleher had her shot blocked in the 54 minute. Alyssa Hodnik (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kiski Area) had her shot turned away in the 62nd minute while Kelleher had another shot blocked by the defense in the 77th minute. Kelleher gave the Gophers their final scoring chance, but missed high in the waning minute of the match.
Catholic posted a goal in the seventh minute on an own goal.
Goucher returns to action on Saturday at Susquehanna University. Game time is 4 p.m.
