Goucher Women's Soccer's Gracie LeFevre Nominated For NCAA Woman Of The Year
BALTIMORE, Md. – Gracie LeFevre (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg), a member of the Goucher College women's soccer team, has been nominated for the NCAA Woman of the Year.
The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.
The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics manages the nomination process and selections. In 2019, 585 female college athletes, representing all NCAA championship sports across Divisions I, II and III, were nominated. The Committee on Women's Athletics encourages each member school to honor its top graduating female student-athlete(s) with a nomination.
In her senior year on the field, she started all 18 games and registered the game-winning assist in overtime in the season-opening 1-0 victory against Gwynedd Mercy on August 30.
For her career, LeFevre appeared in 63 games including 39 starts with four goals and three assists for 11 points. As a sophomore, she was named to the All-Landmark Conference second team, to the NCAA Division III All-Region team and the NCAA All-South Region Scholar-Athlete second team.
She was named to the Landmark Conference All-Academic team all three years eligible while earning Goucher Athletics Departmental Awards the Scholar-Award as a junior and the Ruth Baird Thompson '31 Female Award as a senior.
LeFevre graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.77 grade point average with a concentration of economics and French in May. She served as a residential assistant for the final three years at Goucher and was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years. She earned the Residential Life RA Rookie of the Year in 2018 and the Glowing Gopher Award in 2020. LeFevre is a member of the International Economics Honor Society.
She plans on attending the American University School of International Service and plans to pursue her master's in international relations.
Eligible female student-athletes are nominated by their member school. Each conference office then reviews the nominations from its core member schools (and sponsored sports) and submits its conference nominee(s) to the NCAA. Then, in September, the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee identifies the Top 30 – 10 from each division – and from there selects three finalists from each division. The Committee on Women's Athletics then selects the winner from the nine finalists.
The 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced in November.
