Alumnae Spotlight: Women's Soccer Juliana Harkavy

Today we put the spotlight on former Goucher women's soccer goalkeeper Juliana Harkavy: A 2016 graduate of Goucher College, Harkavy started 48 of the 50 games she played in between the pipes for the Blue and Gold. She registered 237 saves, a 1.29 goals against average and a .790 save percentage in 4392:05 minutes in her career. Harkavy is the program's all-time leader in shutouts (20) and ranks second in goals against average and sixth in save percentage in her career in program history. She notched a career-best 1.17 goals against average and .802 save percentage in 18 starts and 89 saves in her final season.

Why did you choose Goucher College?
I chose Goucher for the small intimate community, with strong academics and sports programs.
How did Goucher College prepare you for the real world?
Goucher prepared me perfectly for the real world. I take experiences from my psychology classes and use them everyday.
How did being a student-athlete help shape you into the person you are today?
I learned an amazing work-sports balance for my life. And I still have my competitive nature in everything I do.
What was your most memorable experience at Goucher athletically?
My most memorable athletic experience would have to be breaking records and seeing my name in the record books!
What was your most non-athletic memorable experience at Goucher?:
Study abroad in Seville, Spain.
What advice would you give current college students interested in pursuing a career in your field?
It is fun and Halle going at the same time. Don't believe what you hear, it's not always easy being a PE teacher!
Looking back at your time at the Goucher, what advice would you give to current Goucher students or someone looking to come to the Goucher?
If you are like me and need more focused attention in class, then Goucher is the perfect school for you!
Give an update on what you have been up to since graduating from the Goucher College:
Currently I am the Sports and League Director at the Memphis Jewish Community Center, and I just recently got engaged!
