ARLINGTON, Va. - Sophomore Madison Gutierrez made seven saves en route to her first shutout of the season as the Goucher College women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw at Marymount (Va.) University Wednesday evening.
Gutierrez stopped all seven shots as she recorded her sixth career shutout for Goucher (0-1-1). Marymount (0-2-1) keepers Hannah Mockenhaupt and Grace Needham combined for three saves for the clean sheet.
The Saints outshot the Gophers 11-8. Emma Boyles and Jordan Wood led the Gophers with two shots apiece.
The two teams battled to a tie for the second straight year, while Goucher extended its unbeaten streak in the series to six (3-0-3).
Goucher plays its third straight road contest to start the season Saturday when it travels to Arcadia for a 1 pm contest. The Gophers' home opener is set for Tuesday, September 10 as Goucher hosts Hood in a 7 pm contest at Beldon Field.
