GLENSIDE, Pa. - A goal by host Arcadia University just over seven minutes into the game lifted it to a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field.
Arcadia (1-2) got on the board at the 7:07 mark as Abby Stephens scored her first goal of the season. The Gophers (0-2-1) had a pair of shots early, with Nora Neall and Natalie Voorhees posting shots in the first five minutes.
Jordan Wood had a shot on goal just over 10 minutes into the second half for Goucher.
The Knights outshot the Gophers 17-6 and took four corner kicks to two for Goucher. Madison Gutierrez recorded four saves, while Arcadia counterpart Abigail Fuchs made one save en route to the shutout. Wood and Abby Lee led the Gophers with a pair of shots apiece.
Goucher plays its home opener on Tuesday, September 10 when it hosts Hood in a 7 pm game at Beldon Field.
