TOWSON, Md. – The Gophers dropped a tough conference game to Susquehanna River Hawks on Beldon Field today. The River Hawks came out flying, putting the Goucher back line and midfield under immediate pressure.
After some easy shot attempts, Susquehanna found feet inside the box and put their first goal into the far post. There were two more goals to follow, one off of a free kick, making the half time and eventual score 3-0.
Goucher came out with some intensity in the second half, keeping the ball in Susquehanna’s half for the first ten minutes. The pressure couldn’t be maintained and the game was back and forth for the remainder of the half. Freshman goalkeeper Tori Svec had a shutout in the second half, keeping the River Hawks off the scoreboard.
Goucher moves to 5-4-1 overall on the season, and are 1-1 in the Landmark Conference. They will play Widener at home on Tuesday, October 4th at 7pm.
