Gophers Come Up Empty Against Rangers, Mariners
TOWSON, Md. — After being recognized as the Goucher swimming program's only active four-time letterinner, Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) went out today and demonstrated why she will likely earn points for the Gophers in multiple events at next month's Landmark Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
Phillipson-Weiner Takes Second in 200 Back, Third in 1000 Free
TOWSON, Md. — After being recognized as the Goucher swimming program's only active four-time letterinner, Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) went out today and demonstrated why she will likely earn points for the Gophers in multiple events at next month's Landmark Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
In a meet against Drew and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the senior placed second in the 200-yard backstroke and third in the 1,000-yard freestyle. In addition, she anchored the Goucher entry that finished as runner-up in the 200 free relay.
Phillipson-Weiner completed the 200 back in 2:26.86 and the 1000 free in 12:28.95.
Like Phillipson-Weiner, junior Victoria Adinolfi (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) was runner-up in one individual event and placed third in another. Her second-place effort was in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.32) and she took third in the 200 butterfly (2:30.93).
Other third-place performances by Goucher swimmers today were from Ruth Logan (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:13.65), Sarah Pardus (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.61) and Sarah Eastland (Sebastopol, Calif./Analy) in the 100 free (1:00.10).
Joining Phillipson-Weiner on the foursome that placed second in the 200 free relay with its time of 1:51.57 were Abbey Wegman (Knoxville, Tenn./Berean Christian), Eastland and Adinolfi.
The Gophers (3-9, 0-6 Landmark) were beaten by Drew, 86-36, and Merchant Marine, 84-38. The Rangers (6-3, 2-1 Landmark) defeated the Mariners (5-2, 1-2 Landmark), 65-57.
