Phillipson-Weiner Takes Third Place in 400 IM

KINGS POINT, N.Y. — Goucher had an individual place as high as third and two entries in relay events as high as fifth at the 2011 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, which concluded today.
In the final team scoring, the Gophers finished in seventh place with 126 points. They trailed sixth-place Juniata by 51 points.
The third-place performance in an individual event was by Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) in the 400-yard individual medley, which she completed in 4:56.22.
Phillipson-Weiner, who earned 12 points for the Gophers in the 400 IM, also secured five additional points two freestyle events: She placed 10th in the 1650 free (19:22.01) and 11th in the 500 free (5:31.01).
Three other Goucher swimmers made the consolation finals in at least one individual event: Sarah Pardus (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) placed eighth in the 50 free (:25.89), 10th in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.06) and 12th in the 100 breast (1:15.23); Victoria Adinolfi (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) was ninth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.90) and ninth in the 200 butterfly (2:26.79) and Sarah Eastland (Sebastopol, Calif./Analy) was 11th in the 200 free (2:05.45).
Goucher's entry consisting of Phillipson-Weiner, Abbey Wegman (Knoxville, Tenn./Berean Christian), Adinolfi and Pardus posted a time of 1:46.50 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, good for fifth place and 20 points toward the team total. In the 800 free relay, the foursome of Eastland, Wegman, Ruth Logan (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) and Phillipson-Weiner placed fifth (8:25.46) for an additional 20 points.
Goucher took sixth place in the 400 medley and 400 ffree relays and seventh in the 200 medley relay.
