Gophers Fall to Scranton, Juniata in Landmark Tri-Meet

Catherine Gepner (West Allenhurst, N.J./Ocean Twp.) and Nicole Craver (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) led the Gophers (0-4, 0-3 Landmark) with a pair of individual second place finishes. Gepner completed the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:02.75, taking over 15 seconds off her previous fastest time of 12:17.81 which was set three years ago during her freshman season.
Craver out-touched Juniata's Emily Nye by two-hundredths of a second in the 100 free, recording a time of 58.01 which was only .41 behind first place finisher Hillary Palmer, also from Juniata. Craver additionally managed third place results in the 200 free (2:06.87) and the 200 breaststroke (2:46.79).
Kellyn Brower (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) earned Goucher's final third place finish in the 200 backstroke. Her time of 2:31.10 was over eight seconds ahead of Juniata's Chrissy Whiteman in fourth.
Goucher's 28-point loss to the Eagles was its tightest Landmark result since a 58-37 loss to Drew during the 2011-12 season.
Scranton (5-1, 2-0 Landmark) controlled the afternoon, as the Royals also handed Juniata (1-3, 1-1 Landmark) a 155-86 defeat.
The Gophers return to the von Borries Aquatic Center next Saturday when they host Arcadia and Gallaudet at 1 p.m.
