Gophers Top Rangers, Bow to Mariners in Final Meet
KINGS POINT, N.Y. — Alexis Regopoulos (Fitchburg, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) touched first in the 1,000-yard freestyle and was runner-up in the 500 free as Goucher came away from today's meet against two Landmark Conference opponents with both a win and a loss.

The win was over Drew, 56-49, and the loss was to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 72-39. The Mariners (8-1) also defeated the Rangers (1-10), 81-32.
The Gophers conclude the 2014-15 regular season with a 6-7 record, their best since going 7-5 in 2008-09.
Regopolous beat out Merchant Marine's Jacqueline White by just 33-hundredths of a second in winning the 1000 free. The freshman completed the event in 11:08.30, less than 2.4 seconds off the school record for the event.
It was White (5:32.48) who finished ahead of Regopolous (5:42.17) in the 500 free.
Other second-place performances for Goucher came from Lizzy Hannifin (Denver, Colo./East) in the 50 free (:26.69) and 100 free (:57.81), Kyanna Cadwallader (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) in the 100 butterfly (1:08.38) and Nicole Craver (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.88).
Goucher had already clinched its win over Drew heading into the 200 free relay, the meet's final event. The entry of Kellyn Brower (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge), Nicole Lynch (Stockholm/SSHL), Ivelisse Rivera (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) and Parisa Syed (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./The Benjamin School) took second place with a time of 2:10.47.
The Gophers still have nearly two weeks to prepare for the 2015 Landmark Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships which will take place Feb. 13-15 at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Md.
