Regopoulos Sets New School Record in 500 Free

The Gophers concluded the day with 53 points, which places them in a tie with Elizabethtown for eighth place.
Alexis Regopoulos (Fitchburg, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) earned 17 of the points by placing second in the 500 free. The freshman's best time in the event during the regular season was 5:27.28, but she knocked it down to 5:18.41 in the preliminaries this morning, setting a new school record. She lowered her time and the school record by nearly another three seconds in tonight's finals by completing the race in 5:15.70.
Lexi Cole from Susquehanna won the event, setting new conference and meet records with her time of 5:05.44.
Goucher's other individual points came from Nicole Craver (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area). The senior co-captain had the seventh-fastest time after preliminaries, but she moved up two spots and earned 14 points with a fifth place showing in the finals. Craver touched in at a personal best mark of 2:13.82. Kelsey Lessard from Susquehanna established a new conference record at 2:08.74 to win the race.
The Gophers earned 22 additional points for an eighth place result in the 200 free relay. Lizzy Hannifin (Denver, Colo./East), Kyanna Cadwallader (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville), Kellyn Brower (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) and Craver completed the race in 1:43.10.
Susquehanna currently leads the meet with 230 points. New conference records were set in all six contested women's events this evening.
