Gophers Hold Down 9th Place After Opening Session

In the first event of the day, the Gophers earned 18 points with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md./homeschooled), Kyanna Cadwallader (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville), Molly Brenton (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.), and Lizzy Hannifin (Denver, Colo./East) posted a time of 1:43.09.
Two of the swimmers from that relay unit also secured points in the 50 free: Jackson earned nine points for placing ninth (:25.57), while Hannifin placed 15th (:25.90), adding three points to the team total.
Alexis Regopoulos (Fitchburg, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) added a point for the Gophers by finishing with a time of 5:21.00 in the 500 free, good for 16th place.
