Regopoulos Makes Championship Finals in 500 Free

BOYDS, Md. — Goucher had an individual and a relay entry place as high as fourth on the opening day of the 2016 Landmark Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
Alexis Regopoulos (Fitchburg, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) earned 15 points for the Gophers with her fourth-place finish this evening in the 500-yard freestyle. She shaved 2.34 seconds off her time in the preliminaries earlier in the day, posting a time of 5:15.79 in the championship finals.
Three Goucher swimmers picked up a combined total of 15 points in the consolation finals of the 50 free. Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md./homeschooled) and Lizzy Hannifin (Denver, Colo./East) placed 10th and 11th, respectively, separated by only 22-hundredths of a second. Jackson turned in a time of :25.32 and Hannifin one of :25.54. Kyanna Cadwallader (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) wound up in 15th place (:25.82).
Goucher also had a swimmer in the consolation finals of the 200-yard individual medley: Rachel Kieffer (Granada Hills, Calif./Reseda) was clocked at 2:20.24, good for 11th place.
The three swimmers who represented Goucher in the 50 free, along with Molly Brenton (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.), formed the entry in the 200-yard free relay that placed fouth (1:40.93), securing 30 points.
At the conclusion of the evening session, the Gophers were in seventh place with a total of 68 points.
