Goucher Women Take Down First Conference Opponent
Goucher’s women won its dual meet with Elizabethtown College today at the vonBorries Aquatic Center and evened its record at 2-2. The Gophers were able to walk away with a comfortable win over the Blue Jays by a final score of 153 - 109.

BALTIMORE, Md.- Goucher's women won its dual meet with Elizabethtown College today at the vonBorries Aquatic Center and evened its record at 2-2. The Gophers were able to walk away with a comfortable win over the Blue Jays by a final score of 153 - 109.
How It Happened:
- Isabelle Pardew (Towson, Md./Lock Raven), Kyanna Cadwallader (Gainesville, Fl/Gainesville), Samantha Epworth (Sacramento, Ca./Bella Vista), Elizabeth Hannifin (Denver, Co./East) open the meet with 1st place in the 400 Medley Relay (4:25.59). Teammates Madeleine Moss (New Braunfels, Tx./New Braunfels), Catey Yost (Brattleboro, Vt./Brattleboro Union), Ruth Mierzejewski (Wadsworth, Oh./Wadsworth), Zoe Brown (Portland, Or./Pacific Crest Community) take third (5:10.52) to open up on lead that they never let go of.
- Camilla Civiello (North Yarmouth, ME/ Greely), First-year swimmer, was victorious in the 1000 Free (12:09.15).
- Hannifin earned her second 1st place finish in the 200 Free (2:10.64).
- Pardew (:29.24) along with Civiello (:32.31) added a one-two finish, respectively, in the 50 Backstroke.
- Cadwallader claimed a second place finish in the 50 Breaststroke (:34.90).
- Epworth also finished second in the 100 Butterfly (1:10.90).
- Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md./ homeschooled) was first to the wall in the 50 Freestyle (:26.13) along with teammate Madeleine Chism (Erie, Co./Centaurus) taking the 3rd place spot.
- Civiello took 1st in the 100 Freestyle (:59.03) and Chism followed up with second (1:02.61).
- Pardew strongly finished the 100 Backstroke as she claimed another 1st (1:02.57) as teammate Molly Brenton (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) was 2nd to the wall in (1:06.20).
- Jackson takes another 1st place in the 100 Breaststroke (1:16.02) as Cadwallader followed closely in 3rd (1:16.77).
- Hannifin had a strong swim to second place in the 500 Free (5:55.75).
- Jackson continued to dominate with another 1st place in the 50 Butterfly (:29.30) as Brenton helped secure a 3rd place (:31.34).
- Cadwallader finished out todays meet with a 2nd place finish in the 200 IM (2:34.68) as her fellow Gopher Mierzejewski was 3rd (2:50.62).
- Finishing their performances and securing the win, Civiello, Brenton, Jackson, Hannifin touched 1st in the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:57.84).
What's Next: Goucher will swim against conference opponents the University of Scranton and Juniata College next Saturday when they travel to Scranton for a 1:00 pm meet.
