Gophers Take Down Hood and Stevenson in Opening Quad-Meet

Goucher’s women’s swim team opened its 2017-18 season today with two wins and one loss in a quad meet held at McDonogh School.  Goucher beat Hood College, 150-50, and Stevenson University, 114-85.  The Gophers fell to the Bobcats of Frostburg State University by a 118-86 score.

Baltimore, Md.- Goucher's women's swim team opened its 2017-18 season today with two wins and one loss in a quad meet held at McDonogh School.  Goucher beat Hood College, 150-50, and Stevenson University, 114-85.  The Gophers fell to the Bobcats of Frostburg State University by a 118-86 score. 
 
Here's How it Happened:
 
· In the 1st event the Gopher kicked off the meet by earning a strong 2nd place showing overall in the Women's 200 Medley with a time of 2:01.60.  The relay consisted of  first-year Kathryn Shannon senior Kyanna Cadwallader, first-year Bailee Buckner and senior Rachel Kieffer  
· The 1000 Free was the Gophers initial 1st Place by Alexis Regopoulos in  11:27.45 followed by first-year teammate Kathryn Shannon in 11:49.30, good enough second place.
· Swimming back to back to take a second place finish was senior Alexis Regopoulos in the women's 200 Free in 2:06.03.
· First-year swimmer Alexis Liszewski was runner-up in the women's 50 Free with:25.80.
· Alexis Liszewski claimed another 2nd place finish in the women's 100 Free in a:58.59 time
· Grabbing her second victory for the day was senior and Goucher record holder for this event, Alexis Regopoulos, in the women's 500 free with a time of 5:36.
· Capping off the day victorious in the women's 200 free relays for the lady Gopher's was first-year Bailee Buckner, sophomore Madeleine Chism, junior Ila Jackson and first-year Alexis Liszewski in a strong showing of 1:47.70.
