Women's Swimming Finishes Sixth at 2018 Landmark Conference Championships
GERMANTOWN, Md. - The Goucher College women's swimming team finished off action at the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships at the Germantown Swim Center on Sunday evening, as the Gophers finished sixth as a team.
GERMANTOWN, Md. - The Goucher College women's swimming team finished off action at the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships at the Germantown Swim Center on Sunday evening, as the Gophers finished sixth as a team.
With the sixth-place finish, it marked the third straight season in which Goucher placed sixth at the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. Overall, Susquehanna was able to take the Landmark title, finishing the weekend with 848 total points.
On the night Sunday, senior Alexis Regopoulos (Fitchburg, Mass.) ended her Goucher career with another high finish in an event, placing fourth in the 1650-freestyle with a time of 18:16.00. In the same event, first-year Kathryn Shannon (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) registered an 11th place finish (19:03.84).
In the 200-backstroke, senior Molly Brenton (Lancaster, Pa.) placed 15th in 2:21.68, while in the 100-free, sophomore Camilla Civiello (North Yarmouth, Maine) earned a spot in the "B" finals, eventually placing 16th with a time of 57.36.
Next, in the 200-breaststroke, junior Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md.) finished off her weekend with an eighth place finish after hitting the wall in 2:39.51. This lead into the final event of the Championships, which was the 400-freestyle relay, in which Goucher placed fifth with a time of 3:45.56. The relay team consisted of Jackson, Civiello, senior Kyanna Cadwallader (Gainesville, Fla.), and first-year Alexis Liszewski (St. Louis, Mo.).
