First-year Alexis Liszewski (St. Louis, Mo.) of the Goucher College women's swimming team posted a record-breaking effort in the 50-free at the 2018 Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships this past weekend, and for her performance, she earned All-Landmark Conference Second-Team honors in the event, the conference office announced this week.
In the 50-free, which was run last Friday, Liszewski hit the wall in 24.39 in the finals, finishing second in the event to Katie Willis of Susquehanna. The time broke a school record, snapping the previous record set by Britt Hogstrom in 2009 (24.48).
With her All-Landmark Conference performance in the event, Liszewski becomes the 38th Goucher College women's swimmer to earn the honor since the conference was formed in the 2007-08 season. Senior Alexis Regopoulos (Fitchburg, Mass.) was the last Gopher swimmer to nab All-Landmark honors, doing so in events in each of the last three Landmark Conference Championships.
Liszewski swam strong in other events last weekend in Germantown. She helped the 400-medley relay team finish third with a time of 4:12.28, while in the 200-medley relay, she helped the Gophers snap another school-record in an event, as the team hit the wall in 1:53.16 to finish fifth. She also posted a top-ten finish in the 100-freestyle, placing 10th with a time of 56.10.
