Swimming Teams Open Home Slate against Elizabethtown

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's and men's swimming teams opened their 2018-19 home schedule on Saturday, hosting Elizabethtown in the Aquatic Center on-campus.
On the day, visiting Elizabethtown won both dual meets against Goucher, taking the women's meet by a score of 137-68, and the men's meet by a 149-67 score.
For the women's team, Goucher started the day taking the 200-medley relay, as the team of sophomore Kathryn Shannon (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), senior Ila Jackson (Columbia, Md.), first-year Jamie Damm (Middletown, Md., and fellow first-year Hallie Stewart (Chesapeake, Va.) captured the event with a time of 2:06.43.
Individually, Shannon went on to take the 200-free with a time of 2:10.56, while Jackson was victorious in the 50-free in 26.33, rounding out the victors on the day for the women's team.
On the men's side, first-year Jackson Penner (Newville, Pa.) was a two-time winner on the day, as he was victorious in the 50-free, hitting the wall in 26.33 and the 100-free in 51.70.
The Goucher College women's and men's swimming teams return to action on Saturday, as they travel to Juniata for a pair of dual meets against the host Eagles and Scranton. Action gets underway at 1 p.m.
