Alice Goldstein-Plesser (Durham, N.C./Durham School of the Arts) and Leigh Oehrig (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) earned the first point for the Gophers (3-3) with their 8-3 triumph over Emma Carey and Meghan Corr at No. 3 doubles, which made the score 6-1 in favor of the Bison (14-3). The next match to finish was at No. 2 where Kelsey Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) and Emily Ruff (Easton, Md./Easton) recorded an 8-2 victory over Ashley Dallaire and Daniela Saldarriaga from Nichols.
Turner and Ruff are now 5-2 as doubles partners this season.
Nichols captured all six singles matches in straight sets.
If playing conditions permit, head coach Sally Baum's squad is scheduled to play its first Landmark Conference match of the season this weekend. Although a match set for Sunday against Scranton has already been postponed, Saturday's match un Selinsgrove, Pa. against Susquehanna is still a go as of 4 p.m. today.
