Goucher Women’s Tennis Brings Home Second Win
Goucher Women’s Tennis registered their second win of the season on Tuesday afternoon against Penn State Harrisburg.
MIDDLETOWN, PA. - Goucher Women’s Tennis registered their second win of the season on Tuesday afternoon against Penn State Harrisburg. The third doubles pairing of junior Mackenzie Donohue (Bronx, NY) and sophomore Miranda Egan-Brooks (Brooklyn, NY) started the match off strong by winning 8-2. Goucher’s second doubles pair, composed of sophomore Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, PA) and freshman Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, PA), followed the trend with a win of 8-0. The Gophers number one doubles pairing of seniors Leigh Oehrig (Woodbine, MD) and Alice Goldstein-Plesser (Durham, NC) put up a strong fight but lost a tight match to Alicia Hitz and Sydney Nye by the score of 5-7.
After securing two points with the doubles matches Ali Tomasevich won Goucher’s third point at number three singles by a score of 6-3, 6-1. At number two, Leigh Oehrig fell to her opponent 6-1, 6-1. At number four singles Mackenzie Donohue clinched the fourth point with a three set win by the score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. Miranda Egan-Brooks won Goucher’s fifth point to earn the match at fifth singles with a score of 6-0, 6-0. After a long fight Alice Goldstein-Plesser lost her three set match by the score of 7-5, 0-6, 0-6. Finally, to wrap up the match, freshman Ali Gorson-Morrow won by a score of 6-0, 6-2.
Goucher will host seven teams on campus in the Goucher Invitational Tournament this weekend October 1st-2nd. The tournament is set to start at 9:00 am on both days.
