Rain Foils Women's Tennis' Bid for Season-Opening Win

The Gophers were on their way to their first victory of the season, having swept doubles action before the match was called during singles play.
At No. 1 doubles, the pairing of seniors Alice Goldstein-Plesser and Leigh Oehrig tallied an 8-0 victory. Similarly, the third-doubles flight of Sophomore Miranda Egan-Brooks and junior Mackenzie Donohue tallied a sweep (8-0).
At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of sophomore Ali Tomasevich and freshman Ali Gorson-Morrow played to an 8-1 win, while Senior Amber Penaloza and sophomore Meera Balasubramanian scored an 8-1 tally in exhibition play.
Singles play was halted with Oehrig playing at No. 1 singles. Goldstein-Plesser was used at No. 2 singles, while Tomasevich played her first match of the season at No. 3. Donohue took the court in the fourth flight, with Egan-Brooks and Gorson-Morrow rounding out the top six.
Due to only three results being recorded during the match, the game will not be kept as an official score, and no make-up date has been determined.
The Gophers will continue the fall portion of their season when they host Stevenson University at the Goucher College Tennis Courts on Wednesday, September 21. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 PM start.
