TOWSON, MD – The Goucher women's tennis team (4-5, Landmark 1-0) have already surpassed their 2016 Landmark Conference wins only one game into conference play.
After going the 2016 season without a conference win, the Goucher College women's tennis team toppled Susquehanna University at home, 8-1.
The Gophers dominated doubles play, taking all three flights. The River Hawks put up battles at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, but it was to no avail. First-years Mandile Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, PA) handled Megan Rudloff and Linsey Sipple, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles.
Mpofu went on to win her first singles match of her career at Goucher 6-4, 6-1. Gorson-Morrow tallied her third win of her career, despite dropping the second set after dominating in the first. In the set tie-breaker the first-year from Broomall, PA took the flight, 7-5.
Junior Mackenzie Donohue (Bronx, NY) and sophomore Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, PA) both won their matches, and currently lead the Gophers in singles play with four wins each over the course of the season.
