Spartans Sneak by Gophers in Non-Conference Matchup

TOWSON, Md. – The Goucher College women's tennis team (4-6, Landmark 1-0) lost to York (Pa.) 6-3 at home on Wednesday evening despite three wins in singles play.
The Gophers dropped all three doubles matches. First year Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, PA) and sophomore Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, PA) played their opponents to an 8-5 finish, putting pressure on the Spartans.
Senior Leigh Oehrig (Woodbine, MD) toppled her opponent 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 3 singles. Gorson-Morrow and junior Mackenzie Donohue (Bronx, NY) added two more points to the Gophers' charge. Donohue took Gina Liguori to the set tie-breaker and pulled out a marathon victory 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (15-13). However, Goucher was unable to overcome the Spartans to seal the win.
