Women's Tennis Drops First Match of Weekend Set to E-Town
The Goucher College women’s tennis team was swept by the Elizabethtown Blue Jays in Hershey Raquet Club on Saturday.
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Goucher College women's tennis team was swept by the Elizabethtown Blue Jays in Hershey Raquet Club on Saturday.
With the loss the Gophers (4-10) fall to 1-4 in Landmark Conference play. Senior Amber Penaloza (Damascus, Md.) and sophomore Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, Pa.) had the closest match of the day at No. 3 singles, falling, 9-8 (7-5).
Senior Alice Goldstein-Plesser (Durham, N.C.) stepped into the No. 1 singles role, but fell to Taylor Helsel, 6-0, 6-1. Fellow senior Leigh Oehrig nearly stole a set from Madison McCall at No. 2 singles, but was edged, 7-5, 6-0.
