Women's Tennis Drops Season Opener to York

TOWSON, Md. – The Goucher College women's tennis team (0-1, Landmark 0-0) fell to York (Pa.) 8-1 on Thursday afternoon at home.
The Gophers fell down 3-0 following doubles play. All three doubles teams battled to a close result, but ultimately fell short. Sophomores Mandiel Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, Pa.) took #1 doubles to a 5-8 finish.
Sophomore Katie Mazerka (Wolfeboro, N.H.) earned the only win for the Gophers in the match, taking the set tie breaker over Jessica Sherman 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) at #5 singles.
The Gophers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Dickinson to take on the Red Devils.
