Women’s Tennis Drops Pair of Decisions in Spring Home Opener Saturday
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women’s tennis team hosted their first matches of the spring portion of the 2017-18 schedule on Saturday, but the Gophers dropped a pair of 7-2 decisions to Harford Community College and St. Mary’s (Md.).

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's tennis team hosted their first matches of the spring portion of the 2017-18 schedule on Saturday, but the Gophers dropped a pair of 7-2 decisions to Harford Community College and St. Mary's (Md.).
With the defeats, Goucher dropped to 1-5 on the year.
First, against Harford C.C., the Gophers dropped two of three doubles matches, as the tandem of first-year Morgan Hartman (Woodstock, Vermont) and junior Meera Balasubramanian (Bel Air, Md.) gutted out a 9-7 win on a tiebreaker (12-10).
In singles action, Goucher's lone victory came in the number six spot, with Hartman taking a 7-5, 7-5 (10-2) decision. Despite dropping the other five singles matches to Harford C.C., Goucher battled in three of the matches, losing each in the third set.
Against St. Mary's, Hartman and Balasubramanian were once again victorious at number three singles, taking an 8-4 decision. Goucher's lone win in singles was notched by sophomore Kyoko Konoshita (Tokyo, Japan) at number four (8-6).
The Goucher College women's tennis team returns to action on Thursday, as they travel to Bryn Mawr. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
