Women’s Tennis Controls Singles, Takes 6-3 Decision from Immaculata for Third Straight Win
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women’s tennis team won five of the six singles matches contested on the afternoon, as the Gophers came back from a 2-1 deficit to take a 6-3 victory over visiting Immaculata on Thursday.

With the win, which was Goucher's third straight, the Gophers moved to 4-5 overall for the year. Immaculata fell to 6-3 overall with the defeat.
To start the day, the visiting Mighty Macs won two of three doubles matches, winning in the top two spots of the line-up after junior Meera Balasubramanian (Bel Air, Md.) and first-year Morgan Hartman (Woodstock, Vermont) captured an 8-1 win in the number three spot for Goucher.
Down 2-1 entering singles, Goucher proceeded to roll the rest of the way to come-from-behind.
First, at number six, sophomore Katie Marzerka (Wolfeboro, N.H.) coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 win to make it a 2-2 match. After Immaculata took a win at number one to go back up, 3-2, junior Miranda Egan-Brooks (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tied it back up at 3-3 with a straight set (6-0, 6-0) shutout win at number two singles.
Goucher then took the final three matches contested on the day to take the match.
First, at number five, sophomore Kyoko Konoshita (Tokyo, Japan) took a three-set win (7-5., 4-6, 6-3), which was followed up by a win by senior Mackenzie Donohue (Bronx, N.Y.) at number three (6-3, 7-6 (8-6)) that won the match for the Gophers. Finally, at number four, Hartman finished off the day with a three-set win (2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3)).
The Goucher College women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to Susquehanna for their 2018 Landmark Conference opener. Action gets underway at 1 p.m.
