Women’s Tennis Takes Fifth Straight, Knocks Off Albright on the Road, 7-2
READING, Pa. - The Goucher College women’s tennis team captured their fifth straight match overall on Thursday at Albright, as the Gophers rolled past the host Lions by a 7-2 score.

With the win, Goucher moved to 6-5 overall on the year, while Albright fell to 0-9 with the defeat.
First, in doubles, Goucher captured a win by forfeit at number three to go up 1-0, before the tandem of first-year Morgan Hartman (Woodstock, Vermont) and junior Meera Balasubramanian (Bel Air, Md.) rolled to an 8-0 victory at number two to put the Gophers up 2-0.
After dropping a match in the top spot of doubles, Goucher won two matches in singles by forfeit (number five and number six) to go up 4-1 in the contest. Only needing one more singles victory to clinch the win, first-year Kyoko Konoshita (Tokyo, Japan) coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 win at number four to sew up the triumph for Goucher.
Elsewhere in singles, sophomore Katie Marzerka (Wolfeboro, N.H.) also posted a shutout win (6-0, 6-0) at number three, and senior Mackenzie Donohue (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was a 6-3, 6-2 victor in the second spot in the singles line-up.
The Goucher College women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Scranton for a Landmark Conference match-up. The contest, which will be played indoors at the Birchwood Tennis Club in Clarks Summit, Pa., will begin at 6:30 p.m.
