Women’s Tennis Shut Outs Notre Dame in 9-0 Sweep
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women’s tennis team posted their second shutout victory of the 2017-18 season on Tuesday at home, as the Gophers rolled past visiting Notre Dame (Md.), 9-0, in non-conference action.

With the win, Goucher moved to 7-7 overall for the year, while Notre Dame fell to 1-9 with the defeat.
The dominant performance on the day started in doubles, as each Goucher doubles team won their matches by 8-0 scores.
First, at number two, the tandem of senior Mackenzie Donohue (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Kyoko Konoshita (Tokyo, Japan) blanked their opponents, which was followed up by a shutout win by first-year Morgan Hartman (Woodstock, Vermont) and junior Meera Balasubramanian (Bel Air, Md.) at number three.
Finally, in the top spot of the doubles lineup, sophomore Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, Pa.) and junior Miranda Egan-Brooks (Brooklyn, N.Y.) completed the doubles shutout with an 8-0 win of their own.
In singles, it was more of the same, with three Gophers winning their matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Gorson-Morrow (6-2, 6-0 at number one), Egan-Brooks (6-0, 6-0, at number two), Donohue (6-2, 6-2 at number three), Hartman (6-1, 6-0 at number four) and Konoshita (6-0, 6-0 at number six) were all two-time winners on the day with victories in singles. Meanwhile, sophomore Katie Marzerka (Wolfeboro, N.H.) captured her singles match at number five, 6-0, 6-0, to finish the sweep for the Gophers.
The Goucher College women's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, as they host Juniata in a Landmark Conference match at home beginning at 1 p.m.
