Women’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Honors; Eight Nab Scholar-Athlete Distinction
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Goucher College women’s tennis team has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III All-Academic Team honors for their work in the classroom for the 2017-18 academic year.
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Goucher College women's tennis team has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III All-Academic Team honors for their work in the classroom for the 2017-18 academic year.
Individually, Goucher had eight members of their team named to Division III ITA Scholar-Athletes, as well. They were: junior Meera Balasubramanian (Bel Air, Md.), sophomore Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, Pa.), senior Miranda Egan-Brooks (Bronx, N.Y.), first-year Morgan Hartman (Woodstock, Vt.), sophomore Kyoko Kinoshita (Tokyo, Japan), sophomore Mandile Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe), and senior Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, Pa.).
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). Meanwhile, in order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
As a team, the Gophers women's tennis team posted a 3.48 cumulative grade point average (GPA) for the 2017-18 academic year to earn the distinction from the ITA.
