Goucher Women's Tennis Drops Spring Opener To Washington (Md.)
CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Goucher College lost to Washington College (Md.) in the spring opener for the Gophers in non-conference women's tennis action on Friday.
Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) earned an 8-1 victory at No. 5 singles while Morgan Hartman (Woodstock, Vt./Woodstock Union) rallied to an 8-5 victory at No. 6 singles.
Anais Gill (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College) and Mandile Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe/Arundel School) lost at No. 1 doubles 8-3. Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) and Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, Pa./Barrack Hebrew Academy) fell at No. 2 doubles 8-1 and Kyoko Kinoshita (Tokyo, Japan/Tilton School [N.H.]) and Haddie Hill (San Antonio, Texas/The Episcopal School of Texas) dropped an 8-2 decision at No. 3 doubles.
In other singles action, Mpofu lost at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-3 and DeJarger dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 2 singles. Hill fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Katie Marzerka (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional) lost 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. The Shorewomen downed the Gophers, 6-3.
Goucher returns to action when it heads to spring break in Orlando, Fla. The Gophers open its time in the Sunshine State against North Central (Ill.) on March 18. Match time is 10 a.m.
