Goucher Women's Tennis Takes Care Of Notre Dame
BALTIMORE, Md. – Alex Coffin (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) won her first collegiate match highlighted Goucher College's victory against Notre Dame University of Maryland in non-conference women's tennis action on Wednesday.
Coffin won at No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-1 to notch her first collegiate tennis victory. The freshman, who played volleyball in the fall, made her collegiate against Ursinus on March 24 and lost in straight sets.
It was Tall and Short at No. 1 doubles. Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) nicknamed "Tall" on the team and Ali Gorson-Morrow (Broomall, Pa./Barrack Hebrew Academy) nicknamed "Short" earned an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Tomasevich also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Kyoko Kinoshita (San Antonio, Texas/The Episcopal School of Texas) and Katie Marzerka (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional) teamed up at No. 2 doubles for an 8-0 win. Marzerka won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Kinoshita took care of business at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Sara Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) and Meera Balasubramanian (Bel Air, Md./Oldfields School) won at No. 3 doubles 8-0 while Healy earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and Balasubramanian took her No. 5 singles match, 6-0, 6-0.
Goucher returns to action on Saturday in its final Landmark Conference match at Juniata College. Match time is 1 p.m.
