Women's Tennis Wraps Up Fall at Goucher Invitational
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season by hosting the Goucher Invitational at the Schroedl Tennis Center on Saturday. The event consisted of four singles and two doubles flights.
Sarai Oquendo Silveira (Houston, Texas/Harmony School of Discovery) and Shelby Meek (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) finished third in the BU doubles draw. The pair prevailed 4-2 in their opening round match against Harford Community College. After falling in the semifinals to Lebanon Valey, the pair recovered to win 6-3, 6-1 over another doubles tamdem from LVC.
Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and Jessica Townes (Wilmington, Del./Concord) won their opening match in A doubles 4-1, 4-3 (2) over Ramapo before falling 6-0, 6-3 to Sweet Briar in the semifinals.
Natalia Navarro (Francisco Morazan, Honduras / Del Campo School) placed fifth in the A singles bracket. After dropping her opening match, Navarro won due to retirement by injury in the consolation semifinals then won 7-5, 6-4 over her opponent from Ramapo.
Eliza Abady (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) won 6-1, 6-2 over Ramapo in her final match in the B singles draw.
