TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Bryn Mawr College jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles and held off Goucher College for a 5-4 non-conference women's tennis victory at the Schroedl Tennis Center Thursday afternoon.
- The Owls (5-1) took all three doubles matches from the Gophers (3-2).
- Natalia Navarro and Lucy Ingraham fell 8-4 at No. 1, while Eliza Abady and Meline Siggen dropped No. 2 doubles by the same score.
- Aaliyah Ybarra and Jessica Townes dropped an 8-3 deicison at No. 3.
- Siggen got Goucher on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3.
- Sarai Oquendo Silveira posted a 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 win at No. 6 to make it 3-2.
- Bryn Mawr clinched the match with three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
- Navarro won her first set at No. 1 before her opponent rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win.
- Abady also went three sets with her opponent at No. 4 in a match that went 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
- The Gophers picked up two three-set wins to close out the match.
- Shelby Meek prevailed at No. 5, winning 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
- Ingraham held off her opponent in a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 triumph.
- Silveira and Siggen each won their second straight singles match.
- The Owls won their second straight in the series, as they prevailed 8-1 last season on the Main Line.
- Goucher is on the road Saturday, travelling to Randolph-Macon for a 1 pm matchup.
