Gophers Bounce Back With 9-0 Blanking of Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Goucher College women's tennis team snapped a two-match slide with a 9-0 blanking of Lycoming College in Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon at Brandon Park.

Goucher (5-6, 3-1 Landmark) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles over Lycoming (1-9, 0-4).
Eliza Abady and Natalia Navarro were 8-2 winners at No. 1.
Jessica Townes and Lucy Ingraham blanked their opponents 8-0 at No. 2.
Shelby Meek and Sarai Oquendo Silveira registered an 8-3 triumph at No. 3.

Abady posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 to make it 4-0.
Aaliyah Ybarra clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Ingraham was a 6-2, 6-2 victor at No. 1, while Meek prevailed 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3.
Townes posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4, with Oquendo Silveira winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.

Ybarra won her fourth straight singles match.
Goucher improved to 2-0 against Landmark newcomer Lycoming, with the first win coming in 2011.

The Gophers travel to Susquehanna on Tuesday for a 4 pm Landmark Conference matchup.
Goucher entertains Division II Kutztown on Wednesday at 3 pm at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
