TOWSON, Md. - Buoyed by a sweep of singles, the Goucher College women's tennis team downed Catholic University 8-1 Thursday afternoon in Landmark Conference play at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
- Goucher (8-7, 5-2 Landmark) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles over Catholic (9-10, 4-3).
- Lucy Ingraham and Jessica Townes made quick work of their opponent at No. 2, winning 8-1.
- After the Cardinals picked up a point at No. 3, Natalia Navarro and Eliza Abady prevailed 8-7 (7-5) at No 1 to give the Gophers the lead.
- Abady picked up Goucher's first singles point, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4.
- Navarro cruised 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1.
- Shelby Meek clinched the match for Goucher with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 5.
- Sarai Oquendo Silveira won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.
- Ingraham was a 6-4, 6-4 victor at No. 3.
- Meline Siggen took a first-set tiebreaker and pulled away for a 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 win at No. 2 to close out the match.
