Steve Baum Steps Down From Women's Tennis Post
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College head women's tennis coach Steve Baum '11 has announced that he is resigning from that post effective August 9. Gopher men's tennis coach Clay Allen will step in to serve as the interim head coach of the women's program.
"I want to thank Goucher for giving me the opportunity to lead the women's tennis program over the last six years, said Baum. "It has been an incredible experience to come back to Goucher and work with such a great staff and so many promising student athletes. I'll forever be grateful that I was able to give back to a place that was so influential in my personal and professional growth. Once a Gopher, always a Gopher!"
Named the third head coach in program history prior to the 2018-19 season, Baum guided the Gophers to 42 wins during his tenure, including back-to-back 10-plus win seasons in 2023 and 2024. The Gophers reached the Landmark Conference semifinals four times, including in each of the past three seasons, while Goucher had a total of 13 All-Conference selections and a pair of Landmark major award winners.
Allen, who is entering his fourth season at Goucher, has led the men's program to a pair of Landmark titles (2022, 2024) under his watch.
