Goucher Wins First Conference Match of Spring

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher Women's Tennis team (4-5 Overall; 1-1 Conference) hosted the Warriors of Lycoming College (7-3 Overall; 0-3 Conference) in the first game of their Spring opener. They overcame a roster shortage to pull off the win 5-2 win.

• Despite forfeiting the No. 3 singles, due to not enough players the Gophers won their two matches giving them the point.
• Lucy Ingraham and Eliza Abady finished the No. 1 doubles, with a 6-4 win.
• In the No. 2 doubles, Shelby Meek and Sarai Oquendo Silveira, finished the game 6-4 to lock in the doubles point.

• Ingraham won the No. 1 singles in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
• The No. 2 singles was secured by Abady who won 6-2, 6-2.
• Meek finished off the No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2.
• Oquendo Silveira won the No. 4 (6-1, 6-2).
• Due to the limited roster, the Gophers forfeited the No. 5 and 6 singles.

• The women are back in action at home on Monday, March 24th to take on Oberlin at 4pm.
