BALTIMORE, Md. - The Goucher College Women's tennis team hosted the Scranton University Royals at an indoor site due to inclement weather. Despite winning the points in doubles, the women fell in singles play for a 4-2 loss in the Landmark Conference Semifinal Match.
The No. 1 doubles match finished first, with Natalia Navarro and Lucy Ingraham finishing their opponents 6-1. The No. 2 pairing of Meline Siggen and Eliza Abady secured the point with a 6-4 victory. At the same time, the No. 3 match finished with Scranton beating Shelby Meek and Sarai Oquendo Silveira (6-4).
The first three singles matches resulted in wins for the Royals. Ingraham fought through a third set after winning the first set, but fell in the third (6-1, 3-6, 0-6).
Meek finished off her opponent in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) to bring the score to 3-2 with the Royals still leading. In the No. 4 match, Abady fought to try and hold off her opponent. However, Scranton earned their final point after winning 3-6, 5-7.
Oquendo Silveira's match went unfinished due to the Royals earning their fourth point, ending tied 3-3.
