CARLISLE, PA — A pair of indoor school records fell
today as Goucher competed for the first time in 2006-07, finishing
in sixth place at the Holiday Invitational.
Marisa Long (Hampton Bays, NY/Sachem) was
responsible for one of the new school records as she completed the
1,000-meter run in a time of 3:31.84, good for fourth place. The
other school record broken at today's meet was through the combined
efforts of Dayna Mizzer (Prince Frederick,
MD/Calvert), Amy McLellan (Brewster, MA/Nauset
Regional), Chelsea Hauck (Stonington,
CT/Stonington) and Sheba Newman-Blount (Lanham,
MD/Bishop Ireton) in the 4 x 200-meter relay. The foursome
placed fifth in the event with a time of 1:58.79.
Newman-Blount was also the runner-up in the 55-meter dash as she
crossed the finish line in :07.78.
Mizzer earned points for the Gophers with a fourth-place finish in
the 55-meter hurdles (:09.65) and a fifth in the high jump (4-feet,
6-inches), and McLellan placed fourth in the 300-meter run
(:48.50).
The team title went to Elizabethtown, which accumulated 90.5.
Gettysburg was second with 84 points, followed by Dickinson (75) in
third, Lebanon Valley (74.5) in fourth, Juniata 50) in fifth and
Goucher (32.5) in sixth. The Gophers finished ahead of Keystone
(24.5).
