Freshman Breaks Three School Records in Debut

Gophers Finish in 15th Place with Team Score of 14 Points 

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Goucher's Destiny Phillips (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) broke three school records today at the Bow Tie Classic, the first meet of her collegiate career.

The freshman became only the third female in the history of the school's indoor track and field program to compete in the 60-meter hurdles and her time of :09.47 now stands as the official school record. Among Division III athletes, she was awarded second place in the event behind Victoria Goodenough from Urisnus and earned eight points for the Gophers.

Phillips also bettered existing records with her time of :08.36 in the 60-meter dash, good for 10th place, and with her effort of 4'8.25" in the high jump where she finished in 12th place.

Goucher's entry of Kelsey Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends), Kenzie Weber (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George), Phillips and Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrews Episcopal) placed fifth in the 4 x 200-meter relay by completing the event in 1:55.42, and in the 4 x 400-meter relay, the foursome of Weber, Phillips, Reifsnyder and Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) was clocked at 4:35.04 to finish in eighth place.

As a team, the Gophers finished in 15th place in the overall team scoring with 14 points.
