FAIRFAX, Va. — Kamillah Smith (Northampton, Mass./Amherst Regional) continued her assault on the Goucher record books, while Sara Aganovic (Pasadena, Md./McDonogh) also earned a spot in Goucher's all-time top 10 list at the Patriot Games on Saturday.
Smith broke her third school record in as many meets this season, becoming the first Gopher to break 27 seconds in the 200-meter dash. She posted a time of 26.91 which was over two-tenths faster than her previous personal best of 27.13 set back in December. It also bested Destiny Phillips time of 27.11 from February, 2012, which had been the fastest in program history.
Competing against several Division I schools at the meet, hosted by George Mason, Smith finished 33rd in the 200m event. In the 60-meter dash, meanwhile, she registered the best finish of any Goucher athlete at the competition, as her time of 8.08 was good enough for 14th place overall. It was also the third fastest time in Goucher history, and Smith now holds the seven fastest school finishes at the 60m distance.
Aganovic, participating in her first meet of the season, set a new personal best in the triple jump. Her distance of 10.08 meters was 0.57 meters further than her previous best from last year's conference championships, it was the fifth furthest jump in Goucher history and it led to a 17th place finish on Saturday.
In the 3,000-meter run, Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) posted the fastest time out of Goucher's three runners. She completed the event in 11:51.10, which was good enough for 36th place.
Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) also ran a personal best time of 1:07.46 in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 47th place overall.
The full women's indoor track & field team returns to action next Saturday at the Crusader Classic in Selinsgrove, Pa.
