Women’s Track & Field Kicks Off 2016-17 Season
The 2016 - 2017 track and field season opened today for the women's indoor track team today at the Susquehanna University River Hawk Opener.
SELINSGROVE, PA. - The 2016 - 2017 track and field season opened today for the women's indoor track team today at the Susquehanna University River Hawk Opener. Mostly first year athletes made their debut today and a number of freshmen throwers enjoyed the opportunity to compete collegiately for the first time.
- Making their Goucher College Debut in the women's throws, Taylor Gunter finished 5th in the women shot put with a mark of 10.85 (35-07.25); and fellow freshman Natalie Kent was 7th 10.76 (35.-03.75). They open up the season becoming the 3rd and 4th best indoor shot putters in school history.
- In the women's weight throw it was Kent who was 8th with a throw of 10.14 (33-03.25) and Gunter was 9th, less than an inch behind with a throw of 10.13 (33-03). This places 4th and 5th all-time in their collegiate debut.
- In the relays, the 4x200 team of Anna Gallina, Havah Berg, Victoria Wheeler and Michell Wolinski ran 2:01.22 to place 8th. The 4x400 team of Berg, Rebecca Kotula, Wheeler and Wolinski ran 4:57.87 to finish in 5th place.
The Gophers will now take a break to get ready for exams and the full squad will return to action after winter break on January 21st at Susquehanna.
